Core Knowledge Official School Status
The Core Knowledge movement has enjoyed over two decades of steady growth. Now more than ever, we have to ensure that the Core Knowledge movement is sustainable at a high level of implementation to have the greatest possible impact on our schools and on American education at large. This implies a more comprehensive vision of what it means to be a Core Knowledge School.
Everyone benefits from a focus on quality of implementation. Schools that call themselves Core Knowledge schools while implementing poorly damage the reputation of both the Foundation and those schools that are committed to quality implementation.
Achieving the Official School Designation
New schools wishing to achieve the Core Knowledge Official School designation should work in close collaboration with the Foundation to complete the steps to achieving the Core Knowledge Official School designation.
Renewal of the Core Knowledge Official School Designation
If your Core Knowledge Official (or Visitation) School status was awarded prior to 2009, this designation will expire in November of 2013.
If your designation was awarded in 2009, it will expire in November 2012.
Each school wishing to renew its designation must work with the Foundation to create a renewal plan by their expiration date. Follow our renewal timeline to initiate the renewal process.
