Curriculum Developers
All Curriculum Developers must have excellent professional writing skills, teaching experience, and ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of a team developing a ground-breaking prek-5 literacy program that includes instructional strands in Skills and Listening and Learning; positions available in both strands at all levels. Curriculum Developers / Preschool Teachers
Core Knowledge Foundation has immediate openings for educators with excellent professional writing skills and recent early childhood / preschool education experience. Knowledge of development of print and phonemic awareness, use of dialogic read alouds, developmentally appropriate practice, language and vocabulary development, children's literature, and previous experience in curriculum development also desirable; knowledge of or experience with synthetic phonics, special education, gifted education, differentiated instruction and/or ELL training a plus. Instructional Designers / Trainers
Core Knowledge Foundation seeks an education professional with instructional design experience to design and delivery of training modules that support implementation of the Core Knowledge Language Arts program, including facilitation of related student work protocols. The primary emphasis of the position will be on developing and delivering turnkey professional development materials that include PowerPoint presentations, workbooks, trainer notes, participant exercises, knowledge assessments and evaluation. Experience with student work protocols, elementary school classroom experience teaching reading using a phonics-based approach, special education, and or ELL training a plus. Core Knowledge Foundation is seeking a print production artist to work in a high-volume environment. Primary duties will include page layout, image editing, and vector illustration. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Adobe InDesign on a PC-based platform is required. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills required. Web Content Manager
Core Knowledge Foundation seeks a web content manager to work in a high-volume publishing environment; knowledge of elementary education is desirable. Will work as part of a team for a Charlottesville-based nonprofit organization that is developing a ground-breaking language arts curriculum. Primary responsibilities will include converting printer source files for web delivery and tagging metadata; this person will also be responsible for writing, editing, updating and proofreading web content on the Core Knowledge website. Attention to detail, strong writing and organizational skills required.
Applicant must have experience in graphics, layout, scripting, programming as well as development involving compatibility and seamless integration with various technologies such as, but not limited to, Java and ColdFusion. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite software, particularly Adobe InDesign on a PC-based platform, is required. Familiarity with Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (lrmi.net) standards a plus. Core Knowledge seeks detailed oriented individual with excellent organizational and bookkeeping skills for a grant funded project. Previous experience with other grant funded projects highly desirable; experience using Great Plains also a plus. Responsibilities include all expense accounting, completing and submitting all necessary documents and reports required by funder, and coordinating other administrative tasks as required by other members of this team. Publication Sales Account Coordinator
Core Knowledge Foundation is seeking a customer service professional to support our publication sales and fulfillment operations. Primary duties include managing the day-to-day operations related to invoice processing, acting as primary point of contact for publication sales customers and related vendors, and monitoring inventory levels. The incumbent will assist with marketing initiatives, website maintenance and updates, and editing the online bookstore. Specifically, content editing, posting new content, maintaining individual product descriptions, preparing email blasts, direct mailings, and promotional materials, and assisting other departments in these areas as needed. Coordinates directly with members of the accounting department as needed.
Qualifications include experience in customer service/sales with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies, strong communication and grammar skills, both orally and in writing, articulate with strong telephone etiquette, typing skills at a minimum of 50-60 wpm, and a general knowledge of office practices and procedures. Proficiency in MS Office programs required; content management system experience a plus. Attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects are critical. Knowledge of basic accounting principles required. Some marketing and email blast experience helpful. F/T position with benefits.
